You're right on them all being sleazy.  The problem I have with CAcert
is it isn't in most people's browsers by default so you might as well
do a self signed cert.


Typically I just try to find the place that will give me a trusted
cert for the lowest price: rapidssl for around $10 from namecheap.com
which is about as sleazy as you can get.
