<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">Sorry. I'm not familiar with the Slug
Jobs list.</p>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;"><br>
</p>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">However, those seeking embedded C and
embedded Linux employment do well to check with employers in the arc
starting in Redmond and extending through Woodinville and Bothell to
Lynnwood. Most have hiring freezes right now. But during a past
recovery from an economic slump I received a response from a 14-month
old resume.</p>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;"><br>
</p>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">When seeking work in this area, you
need to optimize your resume for the screening process. Many
employers ask for ability with a high-priced UNIX derivative called
“Wind River VxWorks.” So a resume line needs to include
something like, “Linux integrated development environment similar
to Wind River VxWorks.” The VxWorks shell has some punctuation
differences from Linux. During my first encounter with it I had no
shell background beyond a Small-C shell running on an Atari 520ST.
But that was enough and turned out to be more valuable than anything
I'd put on my resume. So if you know how to cross compile, link, and
download to an embedded target (like a PIC, Freescale, etc
microcontroller) you have more than I had when entering that
employment environment.</p>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;"><br>
</p>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">I'm not saying it's an easy job hunt.
It isn't. But you can work on some nifty systems meeting worthwhile
needs in transportation, medicine, and other applications.</p>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;"><br>
</p>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">Good luck,</p>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;"><br>
